Commentary
Democrat
In the most Catholic state in the nation, Clinton won the support of
two-thirds of Catholics, who constituted 55 percent of Democratic primary
turnout. Protestants, constituting 23 percent, gave 58 percent of their
votes to Clinton. Obama prevailed only among Nones (13 percent), with 60
percent of their vote. Among attendance categories, Clinton prevailed
strongly except among the Nevers, where she and Obama broke even.
Republican
No exit poll in a contest that was expected to go, and did go,
overwhelmingly McCain’s way.
