New Members of the Trinity College Board of Trustees

Sarah Koeppel Cohn ’83 is a member of the Koeppel Companies. She was an American studies major at Trinity and received her J.D. from Hofstra University. Sarah resides with her spouse, Robert, in New York City. Charter trustee.

Luis J. Fernandez P’11, ’13 is chief financial officer of Florida Crystals Corporation and co-president of American Sugar Refining, Inc. He received his B.A. from Middlebury College and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. The Fernandezes have two Trinity undergraduates: Luis ’11, and Alfonso ’13. Luis resides with his spouse, Lillian, in Palm Beach, Florida. Charter trustee.

L. Peter Lawrence ’71, P’04 is a co-founder of FLAG Capital Management, LLC. He received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. The Lawrences have three children, including a son, John, who is a member of the Trinity Class of 2004. Peter resides with his spouse, Susan Upton Lawrence P’04, in Darien, Connecticut. He is serving a two-year term as president of the National Alumni Association Executive Committee and therefore will serve as a trustee.

Re-elected for a new four-year term:

Elaine Patterson ’76 has had a distinguished career in human resources, including senior positions at Chevron, Unocal, and Texas Instruments. She earned a master’s degree in industrial and labor relations at Cornell University. She resides with her spouse, Gregg, in Los Angeles, California. Alumni trustee.

Elected to the Board of Trustees in new designation as a Charter Trustee:

Virginia (Penny) Sanchez ’77 is vice president of e-Channel Services at Harris N.A. She received her M.B.A. from Rochester Institute of Technology. Penny has just completed a two-year term as president of the National Alumni Association Executive Committee and is a new charter member of the Board of Trustees. She was previously an Alumni Trustee. Penny resides in Vernon Hills, Illinois, and has a daughter, Sheree Nichole Burrus. Charter trustee.
