Trinity Reporter Spring 2010

President JonesAnd why does it matter? Why is it important that we advance Trinity’s mission on a daily basis? In late February, we learned that one of our juniors had been named a finalist for the coveted Truman Scholarship (the second in that many years). I wrote her a congratulatory message. Here is what Nichola Clark responded from her study-abroad program in Oxford:

“Thank you very much for your kind e-mail. I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that I had been named a finalist, and it is most certainly a testament to the wonderful faculty and staff at Trinity who patiently helped me throughout the entire process. Trinity has provided me with so many fantastic opportunities, the Presidential Scholarship, opportunities for internships and community service activities, and fantastic study abroad program options—I am truly grateful for each and every one of them. And although I am enjoying my study abroad at Oxford, I look forward to returning to Trinity in the fall.”

Nichola has a 4.0 GPA, is a Presidential Scholar from Arkansas, and she enlightens everything she does here at Trinity. Trinity will never, ever, leave her, for the rest of her life. It is because Trinity offers transformational opportunities to our students that our efforts pay dividends that are indeed “implausible to the point of being impossible.”
